Tim McGourthy, Worcester’s chief economic development officer, to head Research Bureau

WORCESTER — Timothy J. McGourthy, the city’s chief economic development officer, has been tapped to take over as executive director of the Research Bureau next year.

Mr. McGourthy will take the reins of the Research Bureau in February, according to a news release from the bureau. He will replace President Roberta Schaefer, who led the organization for 30 years and announced her retirement last month. She will remain in her position until Mr. McGourthy takes over, the release said.
