The latest report from The Research Bureau, “Worcester by the Numbers: Public and Charter Schools,” contains some eye-opening facts about the city’s public schools, including enrollment, achievement, teacher pay, and the relative performance of its only charter high school.
Overall, the report shows a system that continues to grow in many ways, with modest but steady growth in enrollment, a 5.4 percent increase in teacher staffing since fiscal 2010, and an average teacher salary well above the state average or those in contiguous communities.
