Parents seek more school funds

WORCESTER —  The Citywide Parent Planning Advisory Committee, a parent group representing all city schools, started an online petition yesterday asking the City Council to fund the public schools at least 3 percent more than the state requires.

The petition, at www.change.org, says that since 1998, the city has generally contributed less than 1 percent above minimum (the exception was 2009, when it contributed 1.5 percent.) The current budget proposal would have it contribute the minimum, according to the petition.
