Green Public Service Awards recognizes five outstanding public employees in the community

WORCESTER ― In 1988, the Thomas S. Green Public Service Awards were first handed out to recognize outstanding public employees working in Worcester County. On Thursday, May 29, the five latest recipients, ranging from police officers to IT professionals, were honored during an event hosted by the Worcester Regional Research Bureau at Mechanics Hall.

The awards, named after Worcester volunteer activist Tom Green, are meant to recognize different public employees who, like Green, serve as role models to the public. Paul Matthews, executive director of the Worcester Regional Research Bureau, said that a special emphasis is put on employees whose contributions are not always obvious to the general public.
