WORCESTER ― A new report shows that urban school districts such as Worcester’s are being underserved by the state’s current school construction policies and calls on state officials to update the policies to better serve urban students who are experiencing the most inadequate and, in some cases, dangerous school conditions in the state.
A joint study conducted by the MassInc Policy Center and the Worcester Regional Research Bureau was published Tuesday, Oct. 7, and shows that buildings in urban school districts make up just 19% of school projects accepted into the Massachusetts School Building Authority process, despite making up 32% of all school buildings in the state.
