Since 1988, The Research Bureau has also celebrated the unsung heroes of public service through the Thomas S. Green Public Service Award. The Thomas S. Green Public Service Awards Committee is now accepting nominations.
This Award is open to all employees from city/town governments, public school districts, and regional agencies who have made outstanding and exemplary contributions to public service in Worcester County, except top executive positions and department or division heads.
Nominees for the Thomas S. Green Public Service Awards must illustrate:
- Exceptional competence and efficient handling of all assigned responsibilities
- Enthusiastic performance of tasks above and beyond the call of duty
- Cooperative, helpful, and friendly attitude toward the public and fellow employees
- Community involvement outside the scope of job-related responsibilities
We invite you to submit nominations by Friday, March 27, 2026.
Nomination forms can be downloaded here and submitted electronically through email at or submitted via the below form. You may also follow this link to access the form as a separate window. The nomination form will prompt you with questions regarding the candidate but it is not expected that you will be able to answer all of the questions. Write to your experience with the nominee and why they deserve this recognition. One additional letter of support is required but multiple letters, especially those from multiple perspectives (supervisors, subordinates, population served, etc.) are highly encouraged. Other creative submissions, such as videos, multi-media presentations, etc., are accepted.
