Worcester has long exhibited an apparent paradox — given how many college students are here, why doesn’t it feel like a typical “college town”?

Well, if a typical college town has a divide between academic and the community, maybe atypical is good. Maybe the ties between town and gown here are deeper and stronger than most realize.

Evidence of that was clear last week, when The Research Bureau’s Fairman Cowan Collegiate Lecture Series went to Clark University to hear three professors helping to build those ties.
