The Worcester Regional Research Bureau, Inc., serving the public interest of Greater Worcester by conducting independent, non-partisan research and analysis of public policy issues to promote informed public debate and decision-making, seeks a qualified, motivated candidate to serve as Research Associate in a small but influential non-profit organization located in Worcester, Massachusetts. Working as an important part of the team, a Research Associate will undertake research and analysis of public policy issues impacting Greater Worcester to prepare reports and other multi-media analyses for consideration by elected and appointed government officials, civic leaders, and the general public.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience in K-12 public education, and other potential research areas include municipal finance, transportation, economic development, higher education, and more.
• Approximately 2+ years in public policy or professional research and writing.
• Familiarity with local and state government in Massachusetts.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in public policy, public administration, political science, economics, journalism, or related field, and proficiency in Microsoft Office products such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Preference will be given to candidates with relevant professional experience, coursework in finance and statistics, or a master’s degree.
• Analytical skills, a demonstrated ability to use quantitative and qualitative data collection and analysis methods, and practice in the use of Tableau, GIS software, RStudio, or equivalent programs.
• Organizational skills, the ability to work both independently and collaboratively, and excellent oral presentation and writing skills.
A Research Associate is an in-person position in Worcester, with benefits and a salary range of $55,000 to $62,000 annually.
