Worcester senator wants review of state School Building Authority

WORCESTER – Worcester state Sen. Robyn Kennedy is seeking to launch a review of the Massachusetts School Building Authority to ultimately address any inadequacies in the system that controls public school construction in the state.

“It’s our job to look at how these things are determining how our schools are being built,” Kennedy said.

Kennedy has submitted legislation on Beacon Hill to create a review committee to study the effectiveness of the School Building Authority, founded in 2004, in response to growing concerns about the cost of building new schools across the state. The agency controls state funding for building projects, giving it a great deal of control over public school construction in Massachusetts.
